The joint health and safety committee supports Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre’s duty to ensure a healthy and safe workplace. The joint committee brings together representatives of the employer and the workers, to identify and help resolve health and safety issues in the workplace.
Purpose of the committee
- Recommend to the BMSC Director policies and procedures designed to protect and improve health, safety, and personal security of all BMSC employees and ensure compliance with applicable WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Review safety concerns from Leadership Team and Department Heads regarding corrective measures to address unsafe working conditions and confirm that corrective measures are effectively implemented.
- Collaborate with Leadership Team and Department Heads to address local health and safety issues that cannot be or have not been resolved.
- Provide a forum for Employer and Worker representatives to collaborate on identifying and resolving health and safety issues in the workplace.
