The Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre is a full-service marine station offering outstanding facilities to support events, conferences, workshops, and more in the stunning setting of Bamfield, B.C., located in the traditional territories of the Huu-ay-aht First Nations in the heart of Pacific Rim National Park.

Our facilities include accommodations, food services with an Executive Chef, classrooms, conference amenities, and foreshore support for ocean access. Outside of facility support, we also offer logistical and operational support for conferences (website building, registration and advertising). For example, BMSC has consistently hosted the Pacific Ecology and Evolution Conference (PEEC) for almost 50 years. In the summer of 2025, BMSC hosted the 11th International Stickleback Conference where we welcomed over 100 international researchers for a week of sharing and learning. In September 2026, we will welcome the 3rd World Congress of Marine Stations. In partnership with our five member universities, academic meetings may be eligible for bursaries and scholarships for underrepresented groups/countries to attend at a lower cost.

Though our marine station is rooted in marine education, research, and outreach we aim to foster interdisciplinary relationships, so we offer much more than conference spaces for research or academic groups. Regular clients have included the Huu-ay-aht First Nations, Canadian Federation of Artists, member university executive retreats, and wilderness guide training.

Please contact our team if you are looking for a scientific conference venue, symposium venue, workshop venue, laboratory retreat venue, or any other event you would like to host on Vancouver Island’s beautiful west coast.

Please reach out to events(at)bamfieldmsc.com for more information.
