“I first attended the Pacific Ecology and Evolution Conference in 2012 as a new Masters student and it quickly became one of my favourite professional conferences and yearly events. The conference provides an excellent opportunity for young scientists to present their research in a welcoming environment of fellow graduate students, and the quality of the research and the presentations has always been impressive. This forum allows students to learn from each other, creating collaborations and spurring new research opportunities. It also provides one of the only opportunities to meet and network with graduate students from other western Canadian universities, and as my career has progressed those connections have proved valuable.
