Congratulations to Sam Starko for being awarded the best poster award at the recent Canadian Society for Ecology and Evolution meetings in Victoria BC, May 7 – 11, 2017. Sam first came to BMSC as a Fall Program student in 2012, and it was clear even then he was a strong student, likely to succeed in academia. He is currently a PhD student in Dr. Patrick Martone‘s lab at UBC Botany, and conducts his field research, “Phylogenomics and evolutionary ecology of kelp” here at BMSC. He also TA’s for us each summer or fall, and students are benefiting from his experience. |
