We welcome Les Jmaeff to BMSC as the new Operations Manager / Deputy Director

We are delighted to announce that Mr. Les Jmaeff has joined the BMSC Team as our Operations Manager/Deputy Director (OMDD). Reporting to the Director, Les will be the most senior full-time staff member permanently located on the campus. The OMDD is responsible for the day-to-day provision, operation, and maintenance of BMSC’s facilities and systems. The OMDD supports BMSC’s mandate of supporting research and education and will be involved in developing innovative and evolving programs and services. The OMDD will also facilitate and participate in initiatives to enhance community engagement and partnerships for the BMSC.

Les comes to this role with extensive experience. As the Project and Operations Manager for The Sechelt First Nation, he managed several major capital projects and was responsible for the operation of the Public Works department. In this role, he worked in close collaboration with local and community leaders and government and completed Emergency Preparedness training with the Sunshine Coast Regional District. We look forward to working with Les and are confident that that the skills, experience and personality that he brings to Bamfield will be an excellent addition to our team as we strive to support outstanding opportunities for teaching and research at the BMSC. Many thanks to the search committee for their hard work on this important search (Jon Driver, Lee Weber, John Richards and Scott Martin). Welcome Les!
