New Guidance Document prepared by KRI and Tsleil-Waututh First Nation

This Guidance Document was prepared by KRI and Tsleil-Waututh First Nation to summarize the Burrard Inlet restoration project and provide accessible guidance for future restoration.

The document, grounded in Indigenous knowledge and two years of field trials, highlights practical, place‑based approaches to support kelp recovery in urban and high‑current environments. The document outlines best practices for site selection, cultivation, monitoring, and permitting, while emphasizing kelp’s vital role in cultural connection, marine biodiversity, and climate resilience.
