All scientific diving will be conducted under the regulations of the BMSC Diving Safety Manual and the auspices of the Canadian Association of Underwater Sciences (CAUS). BMSC’s Bamfield Research Internships (BRIs)(Required)

BMSC’s Bamfield Research Internships (BRIs) are 3- to 6-week long full-immersion research experiences aimed at motivated undergraduates and recent graduates. The BRI program links interns with marine scientist mentors engaging in hands-on research experiences, allowing participants to learn both the process and the substance of scientific research. The BRI program may incorporate workshops, seminars and training sessions in addition to hands-on research with mentors. At the end of the BRI program, each intern will deliver a short presentation on their research. Depending on the number of interns recruited, BMSC may hire a dedicated coordinator to assist with managing the program.Prior to the interns’ arrival at BMSC, BRI mentors will be expected to provide a short blurb describing their research interests and some potential projects interns could complete within the 3- to 6-week time frame. Once interns are on site, BRI mentors will be expected to oversee interns’ safety in the field, guide them through BMSC’s student project approval process, and provide feedback/guidance on their final presentations. As well, BRI mentors may at their discretion offer university credit to their intern(s) through a Directed Studies course.Are you interested in more information about this and possibly participating?
