Clifford Raymond Haylock May 18, 1947 to March 25, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Cliff Haylock. He is survived by his sister Coralie Fitz-Gerald (Glen), his loving family, and dear friends. Cliff was born and grew up in Burnaby, B.C. He attended Simon Fraser University, graduating with a M. Sc. in Chemistry; He then went on to complete his advanced studies in Marine Biology from Memorial University with John Green.
Cliff found his way to Bamfield where he became a long time employee of the Bamfield Marine Sciences Center, retiring after 29 years. In Bamfield, he met and married the love of his life, Linda (Ostrom). They loved living in the Community and built their dream home on Burlo Island. Sadly, Linda passed in 2014.
Cliff was an avid outdoorsman. He loved kayaking, hiking, fishing and skiing. In these last years, he spent winters at Mount Washing- ton and summers in Bamfield tending his amazing garden. Cliff will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him. Rest in peace Cliff. To honour and celebrate Cliff’s life, there will be a gath- ering in Bamfield in 2023.
